About
Coquerel's sifaka is a striking lemur with cream-white fur, chocolate-brown patches, and long powerful legs. On the ground it moves in an unmistakable sideways dancing bounding gait with arms flailing, but in the trees it leaps 10 m or more between trunks. It lives in small family groups and communicates with loud alarm calls. Forest clearance and hunting have made it Critically Endangered, one of the world's most threatened primates.
