About
The proboscis monkey is a leaf-eating primate found only on Borneo, where males carry a remarkable pendulous nose. It lives near rivers and mangroves, often sleeping in trees over water and swimming when threatened. Its specialized stomach ferments leaves, but its habitat is rapidly reduced by logging and conversion of wetlands.
