About

Leopard geckos wear spots like their big-cat namesakes, in yellows, creams, and grays that vary from animal to animal. Unlike most geckos they have eyelids, and unlike nearly all of them they cannot climb glass — these are ground hunters of the dry, stony steppes of southern Asia. Their plump tails store fat for lean times, and when grabbed by a predator the tail snaps off and wriggles to buy a getaway.
